Drama and Theatre Studies

Important Information for Students on Moodle Course Availability

You may not see a full list of all your expected courses in your Moodle My Courses list or in this category. This does not necessarily mean that your course registrations are incorrect. There are two possible reasons:

  • Departments/Tutors make courses visible to Students in Moodle when the course is ready for teaching
  • Not all courses use Moodle.

You can use the Study tab in Campus Connect to check the courses you are registered for or contact your department who can also provide information on their use of Moodle.

22-23 DT5122: Concept and Dramaturgy
Drama and Theatre Studies

This module sets out to explore the politics and pragmatics of directorial concept, situating them within a critical understanding of the social and cultural contexts within which theatre takes place, past and present. We will pursue this via a consideration of dramaturgy: how texts, broadly defined to include (amongst other things) plays, scores, verbatim material, and oral storytelling, might work or not work for live performance, and the process of creative and critical investigation by a director to establish an approach to realising a given text in live performance.
